Halocline was registered in 2019, though the idea took shape much earlier.
I’m Rakshith Lakkunda, and I started the company out of a deep sense of responsibility towards our environment.
After earning my Environmental Engineering degree in 2012, I spent two years in construction, gaining valuable experience due to limited opportunities in my core field. This eventually led me to a role in wastewater treatment, where I specialised in sewage and effluent treatment plant design, installation, and the biochemistry of treatment processes. My dedication helped me deepen my expertise and take on more responsibilities.
However, I soon realised the environmental challenges Bengaluru faced—most wastewater was being dumped into lakes, and waste management efforts were severely lacking. Bengaluru's infrastructure was failing to address solid waste and drainage issues, and there was minimal research and development in the waste management sector. Much of the work being done was more for compliance than genuine impact, which motivated me to make a difference.
